What happens after you apply?

After your application is reviewed by our director (give us about 2 to 3 days), you will receive an email notification. Our director will then set up a time for a phone interview.

Our one year program begins in January of each year. We work with a small group, about 10 to 12 women, and it runs for one full year. The first 9 weeks, we meet once a week, usually evenings (time determined by the group during orientation). We meet for two hours and childcare is provided. We work together as a group through our curriculum that has been specially designed for women, particularly busy women like yourself. We facilitate a study in which you work through steps to determine whether or not your business is feasible. Then, you move forward to develop a business plan.

After the first 9 weeks, we meet every other week for the rest of the year. We help you build a free website, partner you with a business mentor, facilitate trainings for licensing, taxes and any other certifications you might need. In addition, we are developing a microloan program with a local lender for $1000 loans to help you with startup expenses.

But the best part of Beloved Woman is the community. You will be building lifetime friendships with women who are walking the journey with you.

“The curriculum was fantastic and covered all of the things I had questions about and much more. Just as important to me was the sense of community that almost immediately developed amongst the participants, and Sherry and her assistant. I felt enfolded and supported, as well as challenged. They helped me to find the courage to step out and start my business. I chose Beloved Woman because it was a nonprofit. Knowing that there was a board and supporting individuals and groups really meant a lot to me because I knew they were there with the sole purpose of helping women in similar shoes to mine to start viable businesses. I like the idea of having an entire Village behind me.”

“Beloved Woman helped me by giving met the tools and resources to build my brand and make it better. I chose Beloved Woman because, unlike other groups, I received personal care and attention given that it was only a few members and it was based out of a church. I knew by that it wasn't a gimmick or something that would waste my time. They wanted to help me fulfill my purpose.”
